Good morning! Happy Friday!
As we continue to grow, it has come to my attention that I want to host more events and pop-ups that are community-driven and informative in and around the world of food. I have pondered whether I should keep Pass Me A Plate, change its name, and give you more recipes! Internally, it has been a struggle, but I have somewhat concluded this matter. As I continued making a new Instagram for what I wanted to call Scaled Up Detroit, I realized that this community goes beyond Detroit and is something much bigger than that. Still, as I continue to grow the community in and out of Detroit, I have decided to expand Pass Me A Plate and host events with the chefs both in and out of Detroit.
I know it seems like a lot to do, and ultimately, it is. I want to connect with you all more and host and do the things I love here while I’m here. Connecting with the community is something I have always wanted to do, especially when it comes to food.
Please let me know if you know of a spot I should contact in the Metro Detroit Area. My goal by the end of this year is to host a pop-up/chef meet-and-greet; I know we can do it. It's great for the community, and I would love to meet with those who are just as interested in learning where their food comes from as much as the next.
All right… I’m stepping down from the soap box now, so let’s get into the good stuff.
I have worked on solidifying my focaccia recipe for a while. Sometimes, I have the urge to make focaccia and eat it on its own, while others, I like to squish it and see what could be different. I can’t tell you the amount of flour we go through at home… it’s kind of crazy.
Here is my tried and true focaccia recipe, from start to finish.

However, you need everything, including the ingredients, to make the fluffiest focaccia ever.

1. all-purpose flour 2. diamond crystal kosher salt 3. active dry yeast 4. olive oil of your choice
The ingredients are highly interchangeable. Instead of all-purpose flour, you can use bread flour: make it your own, add toppings to your focaccia, and take away toppings. To me, focaccia is so fun and is so rewarding because, yes, it is bread. Bread can be challenging and intimidating, but it's a fun, easy-to-make, and very rewarding bread that comes together in just a day.
Here are the items you need to put together your dough:
medium mixing bowl
bowl scraper
bench scraper
kitchen scale
kitchen aid mixer with dough hook (optional)
1/2 sheet tray
1/4 sheet tray
1/8 sheet tray
baking rack
I hope you enjoy making your focaccia just as much as I do. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
Cheers,
Ariana :^)
